History

- Born to Antivan servants. A middle child, two older sisters and two younger sisters. Generally ignored and babysat largely by goats. Showed signs of magic at 6 when he cast some weak baby barrier to protect the family goat from a passing wolf. Sent immediately to the Circle in Antiva City.
- Grew up in the Circle and was generally happy and content, all things considered.
- Naturally inclined to trust authority because it removes the onerous of thought from him, stayed totally out of trouble and cooperated with everyone. Completed his Harrowing at the right time. Totally unremarkable life, worked a lot in the background and stayed out of trouble when other mages were rebelling or asking the wrong questions.
- His penmanship and skill at calligraphy marked him as a man to write your letters for you, which is how he became affiliated with Seneschal Casoferrazza and the royal household staff.
- When Casoferrazza was sent to Suledin Keep, Salvio was allowed to accompany him as an invaluable part of Casoferrazza's retinue. He hated it, but managed to keep it together.
- Casoferrazza was sent to Kirkwall and Salvio went with him again. He hates Kirkwall a little less, but is slowly coming to hate it more.
- In Kirkwall, Salvio has found himself constantly overworked and chronically stressed. But what else is new!
- Now that Casoferrazza has been removed from his post and shipped back to Antiva, Salvio remains behind, unwilling to be the boss but desperate for someone to step in and be the boss. Please, will someone be the boss. Please.

Personality
A quiet panicked disaster, available at the corner of Stressed and Always Fearing the Worst. Salvio is a mage from Antiva City who mostly tries to avoid anyone looking at him or thinking about him. He loves working behind the scenes and quietly stressing about the status of necessary paperwork while hidden behind a small wall of paperwork.

NERVOUS. Salvio is a bundle of nerves. He shies away from confrontation, and would happily walk the narrow fence between polarizing opinions, if walking on a fence didn't run the risk tripping and falling and impaling himself on a fence spike. Anything that requires a passionate opinion is a big fat no for Salvio. He spends all of his time working, and any spare time doing his best to avoid any attention--positive or negative.

TRUE COWARD. Salvio will run or hide from danger at a moment's notice. Earlier, if possible.

STRESSED. Chronically overworked and overburdened, Salvio does not know how to say no to anyone, and consistently takes on more work than he can handle. He takes responsibility for problems that are not his own, and amasses them into his work workload, until he is buried in obligations. He is desperate for help, but fears rejection, and will back off from pleas for aid at the first sign of negativity, assuring everyone that he will be able to take care of the problem on his own, don't worry about it.

PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE. Incapable of confrontation, Salvio can only be background angry at people. And it isn't even anger, just a sulky resentment that occasionally bleeds into his work. He can't be properly vindictive, and he would never violate the sanctity of his work by assigning anyone hard or deadly tasks, but he can think negative thoughts while he is writing their name down on a task list. And he would use his red ink to do it, so he would remember that he doesn't like them. He would never articulate these thoughts aloud, in a place someone could hear him, lest they, you know, hear him and get mad. He might mutter them under his breath.

SINGLE MINDED. He is of average intelligence, but his diligence makes up for any shortcoming in that department. Once set to a task, Salvio works to complete it. He might cry about it, he might skip sleep for three days and chew his fingernails down to the quick--but he'll do it. He is hard-working and, if allowed to pick one task at a time and work at it, his focus ensures his success.

A FOLLOWER. The best way to ensure that success is to tell Salvio what to do. He trusts in authority absolutely, without question, and he works best when there is someone in charge of him. He craves direction and guidance and someone to just tell him what to do so he doesn't have to think too hard about it.

A DORK. In his heart, Salvio is a dork. He's an actual nerd about calligraphy, cartography, organization, herbalism, and preserving flowers. He is terrible at having friends because he prefers the company of things that are quiet and don't mess his papers up.

Opinions & Affiliations

the Mage/Templar War. Please don't ask him to have an opinion. Salvio weathered any hint of rebellion in absolute hiding. Sometimes literally. He has always preferred the security of organization, including the Circles. The uncertainty of day-to-day life for mages is not something he's comfortable considering. Largely does not apply to him now that he's with the Inquisition, another big organization that he can hide with. He'd still give as firm a NO COMMENT answer as possible, to avoid getting in any shit with either side.
Circle of Magi. Salvio is a Loyalist just because what else is he going to be. He had a pretty good time in the Circle, in that he was mostly left alone, which is just what he wanted. He is very respectful and a little bit in awe of his own magic, and considers anyone who wants to help him reign it in to be serving a good and useful function.
Religion. Strictly and fairly simplistically Andrastian. Does not think too hard about it or ask any difficult theological questions. Nervous when confronted with all other religions. Scared of the Qun. Like, for real.
Templar Order. Slightly terrifying but very necessary. Salvio would prefer never to speak to a templar or have a templar look at him. All the same, he's very respectful of templars and considers them to be necessary holy warriors serving a very important function. It's just that he always feels like he is doing something wrong when they're around, and sometimes when they're not around.

Strengths & Weaknesses

STRENGTHS.
- Hardworking. Like, to a fault.
- Quietly loyal. Like, to a fault.
- Committed to the Inquisition, since they have a good structure, a clear chain of command, and are most likely to keep him supplied with work to do.
- A mage! Based originally in the Antiva City Circle, Salvio squeaked by on his harrowing. His excellence in other areas delayed any kind of efforts toward making him an Enchanter (THANK THE MAKER). His proficiency was in creation magic, particularly in Haste spells, and in spirit magic, particularly anti-magic focused.

WEAKNESSES.
- Not a very good mage! He's not outright afraid of his magic, but his fearful respect for his ability has left him mostly hands-off, and he never quite got around to feeling secure or proud or anything but worried about it.
- Cowardly. He's proficient in Haste spells because then he can run away faster.
- Weak constitution. He's a bit of a hypochondriac and suffers from headaches, milk sickness (sensitive stomach), chronic grippe (the flu), chronic cold plague when in chillier climates), and rose cold (seasonal allergies) since Kirkwall.
- Forgettable. No one ever remembers him.

Inventory

- the contents of Base Operations office. so like, 823498234234 blank forms, 923498234234 filled-in and unfiled forms, cupboards of filed paperwork, books, quills, inks, et cetera.
- 1 ~ magic staff ~, very plain and functional with no special anything to it. Often mistaken for a walking stick, usually propped up against a wall in a corner and hidden by extra cloaks.
- very plain gray wool robes, particularly worn at the elbows, but enchanted to be resistant to damage (think like a shield spell but put onto cloth). very worn boots.
- personal effects - simple book binding material, ink, pens, a small flower press, a few books, one journal of pressed flowers.

Motivation

He's just here to work.
